APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC)

The APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) is a quasi-visa that allows cardholders to use it in conjunction with their passport to enter the territories of participating APEC member economies for short-term business travel without the need for a separate visa. 
Currently, 19 APEC member economies participate in the ABTC program: Australia, Brunei, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia,
New Zealand, Peru, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea,  Singapore, Thailand,Taiwan,Vietnam, Mexico, and Russia.

 

What is the purpose of the application? 

Applying for the ABTC involves requesting permission or a visa to travel to the territories of APEC member economies participating in the program for short-term business travel. The applicant's information provided on
the application form will be sent to all participating member economies for a background check.
If the background check is cleared, the applicant will receive the ABTC,
which can serve as a visa for multiple entries into the participating member economies' territories within
the card's validity period.The cardholder is permitted to stay for up to
90 days per visit.

Characteristics of the tradvel card

The ABTC card is the size of a credit card and has a validity period of 5 years. It features
the cardholder's photograph and signature, full name, date of birth, passport number,
card expiration date, and the name of the APEC member economies the cardholder is cleared
to travel to after passing the background check.
